Jan Danebod - European Hospitality
Opening / Vernissage
European Hospitality - A story by Jan Danebod
European hospitality at one side of the Schengen.
Labour immigration with exotic flavour,
from third world land to first class buisness.
Coloured Intellectual brain damage
and manpower in an endless stream
crossing the ocean on pieces of old wood.
In the heart of the European union, at the other side of the Schengen.
No water in sight. A long distance relationship in between profit and
prohibition. In between cost and benefit.
A contemporary love story based on the truth, as it is told, written
and consumed.
Jan Danebod 1977
The person:
He started writing his name on the city in 1990, and since then dedicated
himself to the graffiti / writing movement specefic, and the hip hop culture in general.
At the same time he attended several art schools and studios, before
graduating at the academy of fine art in Århus / Denmark.
In a mash up of exhibitions, activism in the streets, and curating several
projects and publications, he has built up a long list
of productions under different pseudonyms, marked by our political,
social and cultural time.
Writing has always been the main ingredient throughout his
work, which he considers as his first and most important education.
The work:
The exhibition at the Extrabold gallery in Luxembourg is not only a
continuation of his early works, but also part of a long term project
entitled “European hospitality”.
