More about the artists

Ephameron

The art Ephameron (born in 1979 as Eva Cardon) makes is sensitive: with images and small texts she tries to recreate everyday feelings and thoughts, to capture moments in life with her art. Recurring themes like hands, birds and girls live in her fantasy world of emotions, colourless backgrounds and huge black tape drawings.  Addicted to model drawing and office supplies, Ephameron dislikes to make up a concept behind her art. Her weapon of choice is a 2B pencil teamed up with 80g white paper and her drawings / collages / digital paintings / photographs reflect ephemeral and trivial aspects of life.

Ephameron graduated in fine arts and illustrative design a couple of years ago. Now she's a freelance illustrator. Previous clients include Averbode, Weekend Knack, De Standaard Magazine, Modart, The Bulletin, Blackpool Magazine, Bries Publishing, Mekanik Strip, Buzzworks, Brooklyn, Nike SB, Nokia and Lonsdale. In her free time Ephameron likes to contribute to worldwide exhibitions in a.o. Italy, China, France, Austria, Switzerland, Germany, The Netherlands, Spain, Luxemburg, the United States and Belgium. She also organizes group shows herself under the name of Art Trek, small press book fairs known as Hit the Books and recently published a 48-page magazine called Yacob to support the struggle against asylum camps.

Her award-winning website www.ephameron.com has been an ongoing art project since 2000, her first book Love/Pain was published in 2006 by Bries in Antwerp. Two new books are in preparation.

Ephameron & Havec - Second Guess

Havec

Havec was born as Sylvain Tastet in 1977 and studied art and graphic design in several schools in France (Bordeaux, Lyon, Toulouse and Paris). He works as a graphic designer in an urbanism agency and is also a freelance designer and illustrator.

Havec prefers not having any boundaries for his works and just draws and paints the way he wants to, with different friends and without caring for a classical definition of art. His artworks have evolved from simple drawings to intricately detailed pieces that make you want to spend hours looking at. Havec’s preferred techniques are drawing and painting, and the main theme evolves around the contradiction between his rather child-like way of depicting things versus the crude text lines that go with those drawings. Using cardboard that he finds in the streets as a support to paint on, he also likes to cut out layers to add another dimensionality to his art. Most of the time, Havec composes a work by drawing a lot of smaller characters and objects, then combining these with ideas that are written in beautiful and everchanging typography. He wants to keep his colours strictly seperated and adds in the smallest lines, dots and letters while filling the whole canvas with animals, abusive language and abstract forms.

Havec finds his inspiration in everyday life, the things and persons he sees around him and funny conversations. He likes smoking, spending hours filling one square centimeter with his Micron 0.05 markers and going to pop concerts.
