Graphic Surgery are Erris Huigens and Gysbert Zijlstra, two Amsterdam based artists.

Both have been drawing, painting and assembling collages from a young age. They were both interested in the same visual language and taking similar photos of cranes, construction sites, docklands, typography and eroded, rusty surfaces.
During their art and design studies at the art academy they started painting and screenprinting together. Now they run a graphic design studio under the name EHGZ.

The infrastructure of the contemporary city environment is a non stop source of inspiration, continuously in 'motion' and under the influence of destruction and renewal. Often Graphic Surgery uses these images/ influences as a starting point of their artworks. Intuition plays a significant part. The work balances between order and chaos, while they 'reconstruct' photocopies, prints and hand drawn/painted images into their own visual compositions.  Graphic Surgery continuously experiment with a lot of analog and digital printing techniques on a wide variety of materials. They are also currently working on projects in collaboration with several interactive and multimedia artists. The exhibition will show recent works, screenprints as well as a video installation.
